According to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, there are currently 2,831 job openings in Region 7 (Clay, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties). To help employers fill these positions and to assist the job seekers in our community, the Western Indiana Workforce Development Board (WIWDB) has partnered with local organizations to host several community job fairs.
In September, the WIWDB partnered with the Indiana National Guard for a job fair in Greencastle at the National Guard Armory. The twenty one employers who attended were able to connect with over forty job seekers.
In October, the WIWDB will be hosting multiple hiring events.
For Vermillion County, the City of Clinton is providing the use of the Clinton Community Center 301 S Main St. Clinton, IN 47842 for a job fair. This event will be on October 17th, from 12pm to 4pm.
In Clay County, the YMCA of Clay County, the Clay County Chamber of Commerce and the WIWB will be partnering for a job fair on October 24th. This job fair will be at the Clay County YMCA, 201 Kruzan St. Brazil, IN 47834 from 1pm to 5pm.
The WIWDB will kick off November with our partners at Partnership Parke County and the Parke County Chamber of Commerce for a job fair at the Parke County Fairgrounds, 1472 N U.S. 41, Rockville, IN 47872. This event will be from 12pm to 5 pm.
Prior to these events job seekers are encouraged to visit their local WorkOne office for help with resume creation or to brush up on their interview skills.
